According to a new Berg Insight report - The Global Wireless M2M Market - while shipments of cellular M2M devices grow steadily at a high rate over the next five years, unit prices are set to decline.

Berg Insight believes that cellular M2M devices will account for a significant share of new mobile network connections on mature markets in the coming years, with M2M becoming the top category of mobile subscriptions for some operators.

Others, however, may decide to stay out of the market altogether.

Exactly what role operators should play in the value chain remains to be seen as their strategies are still evolving.

Berg's new report provides business examines both the differences and the similarities in the adoption of M2M technology in Europe, America and Asia, identifies the top operators, service providers and applications in the M2M market, and discusses how merger and acquisition activity affects the M2M device industry. It also presents five-year forecasts.
