GuidePoint provides connectivity for new Visteon radio-nav system
17 June 2009
GuidePoint Systems has developed a new Windows®-based application that will allow users of a new Visteon® Navigation System to access the Internet in their car or truck.

The new application is part of an agreement that calls for GuidePoint to provide connectivity and driver safety/convenience services on the Visteon Navigation System  -  a new radio-navigation head unit being developed for aftermarket applications.

The new Visteon unit will be integrated with a GuidePoint module, which will deliver Internet connectivity and GPS tracking capabilities to the vehicle. The integrated solution will allow users to surf the Web and access location-based services using the touch-screen application built into the Visteon unit.

Additionally, GuidePoint will serve as the exclusive provider of location-based content and services for the new radio-navigation unit, which is expected to be available in July 2009.

Through its 24/7 response centres and technology infrastructure, GuidePoint will provide 24/7 emergency and concierge services, location-based traffic and weather information and Yellow Pages listings.
