Google crams even more detail into its maps
May 20, 2008
Google is overlaying even more detail onto its maps, with the addition of information courtesy of Wikipedia entries and geo-tagged photos provided by Panoramio.

The Wikipedia and / or photo icons can be displayed on maps in street map, terrain or satellite view, simply by clicking on the "More" tab.

You can add Live Traffic to the mix as well.

In the end, you have a map showing the location of POIs, photographs, a brief history or some background information, the average speed of the traffic on the route to get there, and you can click on a camera icon for StreetView.
