Clear Channel launches real-time traffic over HD Radio
6 January 2009
Clear Channel Radio's Total Traffic Network (CCTTN) has announced that it is the first company to launch real-time traffic services over HD Radio channels.

Dual Electronics has launched the first commercial PND to offer this service.

The traffic data for this service is created by a combination of CCTTN and INRIX floating car data, with all data provided being continuously monitored and updated by Clear Channel's staff of local traffic data producers.

The service, which delivers updated traffic information at speeds of more than 500 messages per minute, is live and operational in fifty markets.

According to Jeff Littlejohn, Clear Channel's executive vice president of distribution development, even in the biggest metropolitan areas, real-time traffic information is transmitted in less than a minute.
